Ukrainian army breaches truce near Lozove - LPR

LUHANSK/KYIV. March 6 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces violated the Donbas' absolute ceasefire on Tuesday, the spokesman of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR)'s People's Militia, Andriy Marochko, said.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have disrupted the truce. They fired an automatic grenade launcher and a large-caliber machinegun from the Svitlodarske sector at the LPR People's Militia positions near Lozove at 4 p.m.," Marochko told reporters on Tuesday.

Ukrainian envoys to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) recorded a mortar and small-arms attack by the LPR militia on residential neighborhoods in Schastya in the Luhansk region.

Several houses and household facilities of local residents and a kindergarten were damaged.

The adversary used weapons banned by the Minsk Agreements in the attack, a statement posted on Facebook said.

"In particular, armor-piercing incendiary tracer shells were seen to hit residential houses and household facilities belonging to civilians at 1 and 27 Respublikanskaya Street, 3 Priozernaya Street, 12 Matrosova Street, 4 Gagarina Street, 12 Tsentralnaya Street, and the Zvyozdochka kindergarten. External walls and windows were destroyed in these buildings, and furniture and home electric appliances were substantially damaged. Luckily, local residents were not hurt," a Ukrainian JCCC representative said.

In this connection, the LPR was blamed for violating the agreements on a comprehensive ceasefire between the opposing sides along the entire disengagement line in eastern Ukraine starting at midnight on March 5 approved by the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk on February 28, 2018.
