Uzbek president to visit Kazakhstan on Thursday - press service
TASHKENT. March 13 (Interfax) - Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a working visit to Kazakhstan at President Nursultan Nazarbayev's invitation on Thursday, March 15, the Uzbek presidential press service said on Tuesday.
"The Uzbek delegation will participate in the first consultative meeting of the heads of the Central Asian states with the extensive agenda as part of the visit," the press service said.
The meeting is taking place at Mirziyoyev's initiative, which he voiced during the United Nations General Assembly in September 2017 and elaborated into a comprehensive program at the international conference dubbed "Central Asia: One Past and a Common Future, Cooperation for Sustainable Development and Mutual Prosperity" in Samarkand in November, the press service said.
All countries of the region supported Mirziyoyev's initiative. Kazakhstan offered to host the first high-level meeting in Astana.
According to the press service, Mirziyoyev will also participate in the ceremony of the official opening of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan on Thursday. The Uzbek president paid a state visit to Kazakhstan in March 2017.
