Eurasian parliament speakers may meet in Turkey this year - Volodin
VOLGOGRAD. March 14 (Interfax) - The Turkish administration has agreed to host this year's conference of Eurasian parliament speakers, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin told reporters on Wednesday during a working trip to Volgograd.
"I met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at the State Duma on Tuesday. We conferred on a broad range of issues, including the situation in the PACE which he chaired [in 2010-2012] and the possibility to hold this year's conference of Eurasian parliament speakers in Turkey," Volodin said.
Cavusoglu said the Turkish president had supported the national parliament's initiative of hosting the meeting, he said.
The speakers may meet in early September, and the meeting's venue is subject to further coordination, Volodin said.
The previous annual meetings of Eurasian parliament speakers were hosted by Moscow and Seoul.
