Roscosmos to create microelectronics division - Rogozin
SAMARA. March 15 (Interfax) - The state corporation Roscosmos intends to create a microelectronics division whose employees will be present in the leading enterprises of the industry, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said in Samara on Wednesday after visiting the Progress rocket center.
"A division will be created in Roscosmos, which will not control the rebuilding of this industry remotely, but will be directly present in the leading enterprises of our microelectronics industry through its representatives," Rogozin said.
"That will take our microelectronics industry out of the deadlock in which we essentially put ourselves, because we have not given due attention to this area for the past 20-30 years," Rogozin said.
Modern spacecraft are 95% microelectronics, Rogozin said.
"If sanctions were imposed against Russia and we are in an unequal situation with the leading manufacturers of space equipment [...] there is only one way out of the situation: to create a national industry in the sphere of microelectronics and radioelectronics," he said.
