Russian aviation doesn't have, carry out combat missions near Eastern Ghouta - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry has denied human rights activists' reports claiming that the Russian aviation delivered strikes at Eastern Ghouta.

"It is yet another fake news," Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson Gen. Maj. Igor Konashenkov said on Friday.

"The Russian aviation does not have and does not carry out any combat missions near Eastern Ghouta," he said.

Representatives of the United Kingdom's Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said earlier citing anonymous sources that the Russian aviation had allegedly delivered strikes at Eastern Ghouta.

"Russian servicemen from the center for reconciliation ensuring operations of humanitarian corridors, provision of assistance to civilians and negotiating with leaders of the armed opposition about the cessations of attacks on civilians currently work in this suburb of Damascus," Konashenkov said.

"I would like to emphasize that all these activities take place before the very eyes of members of the media, including from the Western countries," the Russian defense ministry spokesperson said.
