U.S. hasn't destroyed its chemical weapons arsenal, this is perplexing - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - The United States is not in a hurry to destroy its chemical weapons arsenal, citing a lack of funding, Igor Kirillov, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Troops, said.

"The U.S. has still not destroyed its chemical weapons arsenal, citing a lack of funding. This causes not only perplexity, but also a deep degree of outrage," Kirillov said at a briefing held in the Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

"Is the country with the biggest defense budget not capable of providing funding and properly fulfilling its obligations under the convention?" he said.

Russia has fully observed its obligations to destroy chemical weapons and has proof of this fact, he said.
