Tbilisi, Sukhum reps discuss recent border incidents at IPRM meeting
TBILISI. March 22 (Interfax) - The 54th meeting of Georgian and Abkhaz officials in the Incident Prevention and Reaction Mechanism (IPRM) format took place in the town of Gali on Wednesday.
The sides discussed recent incidents, the Georgian State Security Service said.
The Georgian side again demanded that Abkhazia detain former Abkhaz border guard Rashid Kandzhi-ogly, who killed Georgian citizen Gigi Otzokhoria in the village of Khurcha in the Zugdidi district of Georgia in May 2016, the service said.
"Detentions of Georgian citizens on charges of violating the so-called border" were also discussed at the meeting, it said.
Tbilisi views such detentions as illegal and demands the release of all those detained.
The next IPRM meeting is scheduled to take place in Gali on April 25, the Georgian State Security Service said.
