DPR militiaman killed in Ukrainian army attack

DONETSK. April 2 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has reported the death of a militiaman in the Ukrainian Armed Forces' sniper fire in the town of Kominternove.

"An enemy sniper killed a DPR Armed Forces serviceman today, while performing a peacemaking mission to extend aid to local residents affected in the shell attack on the Komynternove populated locality," a spokesman of the DPR operational command told reporters on Monday.

The adversary opened fire at 1.40 p.m. from large-caliber machineguns and small arms on houses of civilians, he said. A serviceman, who has repaired the window frame of the house earlier destroyed, failed to protect himself from the sniper fire and was killed.

"This shows once again that the Ukrainian leadership's statements on allegedly only firing defensively are a blatant lie," the spokesman added.

At the same time, the press center of the headquarters of the special operation in eastern Ukraine has reported ten shell attacks on the Ukrainian Armed Forces' positions on its Facebook page.

"Ten shell attacks on Ukrainian strongholds have been witnessed since midnight. Not a single serviceman of ours was injured in the enemy fire," the headquarters press center reported.
