Shoigu warns of risk of spread of terrorism from Syria to other regions

MOSCOW. April 4 (Interfax-AVN) - The terrorist threats existing in Syria may spread to other regions of the world, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"We are confident that the situation in Syria in itself is projected to all regions of the planet. Because what is happening now is that they may move to other places like an infection, an epidemic," Shoigu said while meeting with Vietnamese Defense Minister Ngo Xuan Lich on Wednesday.

The Russian defense minister also said during the talks that cooperation between Moscow and Hanoi in the military and military-technical cooperation sphere "is developing quite successfully."

"We are thankful for hosting our ships in Cam Ranh. We have signed a very important document on the facilitated entry of our countries' ports. We hope that it will promote further development of relations between our fleets and will promote our cooperation in the military and military-technical cooperation sphere," Shoigu said.

Shoigu said he is happy to meet with his Vietnamese colleague for a second time this year.

"I appreciate your acceptance of our invitation to attend the Moscow Conference on International Security, whose agenda this year is focused primarily on the fight against international terrorism and the situation in Syria," Shoigu said.
