Russian military specialists find no trace of chlorine in Syria's Douma - Lavrov
MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Russian military specialists have found no traces of chlorine on the site of the alleged chemical attack in Syria's Douma, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference on Monday.
"The location has been visited by our military specialists, and representatives of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) who have a very good reputation in the eyes of international organizations, including the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross. They found no traces of chlorine or any other chemical substance used against civilians," Lavrov said.
He also noted that press reports on the conversation between the U.S. and French presidents said they exchanged evidence of chemical weapons' use by the administration of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
"The experts who drew that conclusion must have been extremely fast in delivering their report to the administration. Without being ironic, I should say that this is not quite consistent with what actually happened," Lavrov said.
