Russia should handle growing tension with West responsibly - Shamanov
MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - The growing confrontation between Russia and Western countries cannot be ignored, State Duma Defense Committee head Vladimir Shamanov said.
"We are in a clash with Western countries. This cannot be ignored today, and we need to react in a balanced and responsible way," Shamanov said at a Duma plenary session on Tuesday.
The latest events indicating growing tension include reports alleging the use of chemical weapons in Syria's Douma, missile strikes on a Syrian airbase in Homs, and developments following the poisoning of former Russian military intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in the United Kingdom, he said.
