UAZ car sales in 2018 to remain flat 'at best' - Shvetsov
ST. PETERSBURG. April 12 (Interfax) - Sales of UAZ cars in 2018 are expected to remain at last year's level, said Vadim Shvetsov, the principal owner of Sollers and the general director of UAZ LLC.
"For sales, we have a different situation for different brands. For UAZ it will be flat at best, that is, the same as last year, given that vehicles such as UAZ are replaced once in seven-eight years. Given that the support in the days of crisis was very great, therefore we of course took in future demand for UAZ cars, very much so. Therefore, we do not expect any UAZ sales growth," Shvetsov said.
For Sollers partnership brands - Mazda and Ford - sales are expected to increase 15% and "maybe even 20%."
Sales of UAZ cars in Russia declined 14.8% to 41,632 units in 2017. Sales in March 2018 plunged 38.2% year-on-year to 2,832 and sales in January-March 2018 fell 24.3% to 7,441.
