Ukraine may denounce certain provisions of friendship treaty with Russia - Rada speaker
KYIV. April 12 (Interfax) - Ukraine may denounce certain provisions of the treaty on friendship with the Russian Federation, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy said.
"I heard this initiative from the president. I will definitely consider it. And when I see it, I will be able to assess it," he told journalists on the sidelines of the 11th Kyiv Security Forum on Thursday.
The speaker said a discussion on the denunciation of this treaty took place in 2014, adding that almost all agreements have an important aspect: they determine the borders of Ukraine.
"That discussion was very difficult, and for that reason there are grounds to abolish certain provisions. However, I emphasize that this issue will be studied when I see the document," Parubiy said.
