Over 40 countries willing to join peacekeeping operation in Donbas - Poroshenko

KYIV. April 13 (Interfax) - More than 40 countries are willing to take part in an international peacekeeping operation in Donbas, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

"We have more than forty countries today that agree to take part in a peacekeeping operation," Poroshenko said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels on Friday evening.

"The issue of peacekeepers is extremely important" to Ukraine, he said.

"The world didn't want to hear about peacekeepers a year and a half ago: they said this would be too expensive, this would cost several billion dollars [...] and nobody would go to Ukraine to help Ukraine establish peace as a key element of the Minsk Agreements and put the lands occupied by the Russians back under Ukraine's sovereignty," Poroshenko said.
