Kazakhstan to start issuing visas online this year
ASTANA. April 16 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry plans to launch a pilot project for issuing visas online this year, First Deputy Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi said.
"We need to improve the Berkut [Information] System, which is managed by the National Security Commission. The necessary money has been allocated, and the government's budget commission has already approved these expenditures so that the National Security Committee can upgrade its system. We will therefore start issuing visas online this year," Tleuberdi said at the government hour in the lower chamber of the Kazakh parliament.
Initially, only citizens from certain countries will be able to use the online system. Tleuberdi did not specify which.
