Syrian air defense troops destroyed 71 cruise missiles during Saturday's attack - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - The Syrian army has destroyed 71 out of 103 cruise missiles with which the Western coalition attacked targets last Saturday, the Russian military said.

"In all, Syrian air defense units destroyed 71 out of the 103 cruise missiles detected in the airspace of the republic," the Russian Defense Ministry's spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said on Monday.

"No airbase sustained serious damage," he said.

"Four missiles were used at Duvali airbase, all were downed. At Al-Dumayr, 12 missiles, all downed. At Blei, 18 missiles, all downed. At Shayrat, 12 missiles, all downed. At Tifor, two missiles, both downed. At Mezzeh airbase, nine missiles, five downed. At Homs airbase, 16 missiles, 13 downed," Konashenkov said.

"We estimate that 30 missiles and guided aerial bombs were used against the scientific research facilities near Barza and Jaramani. Five of them were destroyed by Syrian air defense systems," Konashenkov said.
