Putin calls Sargsyan, congratulates him on appointment as Armenian PM
MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken with Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan by phone at the Russian side's initiative, the Kremlin's press service said.
"Vladimir Putin cordially congratulated Serzh Sargsyan on his appointment as the Armenian head of government and wished him success in this high public post," the press service said.
Both parties stressed the importance of expanding their allied partnership and cooperating in all areas, it said.
Putin earlier sent Sargsyan a congratulatory telegram.
