Moscow hopes for objective investigation by OPCW mission in Syria's Douma - Matviyenko

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - Russia is confident that the Syrian authorities did not carry out any chemical attacks and hopes for an objective investigation by experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Russian Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko said.

"We would really like to hope that, although pressure is being put, the OPCW will definitely conduct an objective analysis, an objective investigation and will give an honest answer," Matviyenko told reporters on Wednesday.

"We are confident that there was no chemical attack by the Syrian government," she said, adding that there are objective reasons for that.
