Russia to design sixth-generation subs by late 2020s - early 2030s - USC head Rakhmanov

MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia will design sixth-generation submarines by the late 2020s - early 2030s, the head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), Alexei Rakhmanov, said in a program aired by the radio Ekho Moskvy on Monday.

"Neither us nor the foe have the sixth generation so far. I believe that will happen in the late 2020s or the early 2030s," Rakhmanov said.

For now, Russia is working on fifth-generation submarines.
