Astana, Moscow should maintain momentum in cooperation - Kazakh state secretary

ASTANA. April 24 (Interfax) - Kazakh State Secretary Gulshara Abdykalikova has discussed bilateral cooperation with Alexei Borodavkin, the newly appointed Russian ambassador in Astana.

Abdykalikova said at the meeting that the relationship between Kazakhstan and Russia currently serves as a model of neighborliness based on trust and mutual understanding, a statement posted on the Kazakh presidential website on Tuesday said.

"Our countries are developing an intensive political dialogue and have built close economic ties. We have substantive cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian and scientific-educational fields. It is important to maintain the high intensity reached in Kazakh-Russian interaction," she said.

Borodavkin was appointed Russia's ambassador to Kazakhstan in early February.
