Burjanadze sees no alternative to dialogue with Russia

TBILISI. April 25 (Interfax) - Nino Burjanadze, the former speaker of the Georgian parliament and leader of the opposition party Democratic Movement, has called on Georgian society, journalists, and experts to be realistic and begin a dialogue with Russia, given the alarming international situation.

"The global reality is now absolutely different, and we are still using the terminology that we used ten years ago. An 'icy war,' not a 'cold war' is now going on in the world, but we keep saying that Russia is an occupant. Did that make Russia step back one centimeter? No! This means we need to use a different medicine, different methods, which the whole world is now using. Show me an alternative to dialogue with Russia - you can't, because there is no alternative," Burjanadze said in a statement released on Wednesday.
