Growth in hog production quickens to 13.4% in March, poultry output declines - Rosstat
MOSCOW. April 27 (Interfax) - Russian agricultural organizations produced 338,300 tonnes of hogs (live weight) in March, 13.4% more than a year earlier.
The pork segment remains the growth leader in the Russian meat industry, with growth accelerating from 10.7% in February.
Hog production rose 9% overall in Q1 2018.
Poultry production declined in March, by 0.5% to 528,700 tonnes of poultry meat. Output rose 5.5% in February and 9% in Q1 2018.
Cattle production rose to 80,900 tonnes, up 3.7% in March year-on-year after rising 8.6% in February. Cattle production rose 7.5% in Q1.
A total of 950,700 tonnes of livestock and poultry in live weight was produced in March 2018, up 4.4% year-on-year.
