Police say 130,000 taking part in May 1 march of trade unions in Moscow

MOSCOW. May 1 (Interfax) - The May 1 march of trade unions on Moscow's Red Square has a 130,000 turnout, the city police said in a statement.

"The festive march organized by the Moscow Federation of Trade Unions is taking place in the center of the capital. Some 130,000 people are participating in the event," the police said.

The organizers tentatively estimated the turnout at about 120,000.

More than 2.7 million people will take part in May 1 marches of trade unions across the country, the head of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, Mikhail Shmakov, said.
