U.S. embassy to Russia declines to comment on possibility of Lavrov-Pompeo meeting in Argentina in May

MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax) - The United States' embassy in Moscow has refrained from commenting on the possibility that Russian and U.S. foreign policy chiefs might meet in May.

"There are no meetings to announce at this time," Andrea Kalan, spokesperson for the U.S. diplomatic mission, told Interfax on Monday when asked whether the U.S. side is considering a possible meeting between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the upcoming G20 ministerial meeting in Argentina in May.

Earlier on Monday, Lavrov said it is possible that he will meet with Pompeo in Buenos Aires.

Foreign ministers from the G20 countries are due to meet in Buenos Aires on May 20-21.
