Society needs to be consolidated to fulfil ambitious objectives set in May decree - Putin
MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - The May decree has set large-scale and ambitious objectives, and the entire society needs to be consolidated to implement them, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting in the State Duma on Tuesday.
"Guidelines are set, they are really large-scale and ambitious, and the consolidation of the entire society is needed for their fulfillment. The contribution of each person is significant," Putin said.
The president said that he had signed the decree on national goals and strategic objectives of the Russian Federation for the period until 2024 on Monday.
"This concerns the active policy of demographic development and reaching the steady population growth, achieving the new quality of life of our people, an increase in citizens' real incomes and the drastic reduction of poverty levels, establishing the efficient system of social support, further changes in education and healthcare, settlement of housing and environmental problems, and the support to culture," Putin said.
He said that launching major infrastructure, transport and energy projects had also been planned. "This concerns development of the Far East, the Arctic, all our regions, renovation of cities and populated localities," Putin added.
Implementing national projects and programs will need joint concerted efforts by all levels and branches of power, that is, legislative and executive authorities, and those in all regions, he said.
"I also hope for the active involvement of non-governmental and professional associations, and national and business communities," the Russian president said.
He addressed State Duma deputies, noting that the hopes for their readiness to join this creative work in the common team.
"All constructive ideas, proposals will be certainly counted in the interests of the common undertaking. The democracy, openness to the dialogue and discussions, the ability to respond to substantial proposals and essential criticism, all this became an original, professional style of the previous government," Putin said.
