Armenian parliament not to have any more businessmen - Armenia's Grand Holding

YEREVAN. May 10 (Interfax) - The administration of the Armenian corporation Grand Holding has explained the resignation of two parliamentarians, one from the Dashnaktsutyun faction and one from the country's former ruling Republican Party, which is now in the opposition.

"Independent deputies Grigor Avalyan and Armen Babayan, who represented Grand Holding in the Armenian parliament, have filed their resignations. In our opinion, the parliament of the new Armenia will no longer have a need for the presence of businessmen. We have never been members of any party. Our policy is our work for the development of our economy," brothers Michael and Karen Vardanyanov, the owners of Grand Holding, said in a statement on Thursday.

Grigor Avalyan, a member of the Republican faction, filed his resignation from the parliament on May 1. Before being elected to the parliament, he was the commercial director of Grand Tobacco.

Armen Babayan, a member of the faction Dashnaktsutyun, filed his resignation from the parliament on Thursday.
