Russian jets scrambled 8 times to intercept foreign recon planes over week - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. May 18 (Interfax) - Fourteen foreign aircraft were seen doing reconnaissance near the Russian border over the past week, according to a weekly infographic report published in the Defense Ministry's newspaper, Krasnaya Zvezda.

Fighter jets of the air defense standby forces were scrambled eight times to intercept and escort the aircraft, according to the report.

"No violations of Russian airspace were allowed," it said.
