Chinese woman arrested for trying to bribe FSB to release Chinese detainees in Kaluga region - Investigative Committee

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - A citizen of China who tried to give Federal Security Service (FSB) officials a bribe in the form of smartphones or an amount of money equivalent to their value has been arrested, the Investigative Committee said on its channel on the messenger TamTam on Monday.

"A woman, a citizen of China, tried to bribe Federal Security Service officials for the release of 26 of her fellow-countrymen detained in the Kaluga region for violating migration regulations," the statement said.

According to investigators, the woman offered two FSB officials two iPhone Xs or the equivalent amount of money and was detained while handing over 100,000 rubles.

"A criminal case was opened. The court ordered that the woman be taken into custody," the statement said.
