Kyiv preparing to use Javelins in Donbas despite supplier's ban - Russian Federation Council's Klintsevich

MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - Ukrainian government forces may use U.S.-made Javelin missile systems in Donbas, Russian Federation Council Defense and Security Committee member Franz Klintsevich said.

"It is highly likely that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will use the missile systems despite all the suppliers' 'very strict bans.' Actually, no matter what the Americans say, they are intended exactly for that purpose. By making these deliveries, the U.S. is directly provoking Kyiv into a big war in Donbas," Klintsevich's press service quoted him as saying in comments on Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's statement that Ukraine had test-fired the Javelin systems for the first time.

"Well, his priorities are not a secret to anyone: guns instead of butter. It only has to be understood in what instances these systems are going to be used. Will this really happen in the event of Russia's advance on Ukrainian troops, as the Ukrainian president has claimed? I don't think it's necessary even to deny these remarks: only someone who's delirious can imagine a war between Russia and Ukraine," Klintsevich said.
