Rally in support of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov held near Russian consulate general in Odesa
ODESA. May 25 (Interfax) - A rally demanding the release of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov was held near the Russian Consulate General in Odesa.
The event was attended by 50 to 100 people holding banners saying #Freesentsov, an Interfax correspondent reported.
Some protesters put labels with the same words on the fence of the diplomatic mission.
The Northern Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Sentsov, who was detained in Crimea in 2014, to 20 years in a high-security penitentiary in August 2015 for an attempt to set up a terrorist group in Crimea.
Sentsov is serving his sentence in a high-security correctional facility known as Bely Medved (Polar Bear) in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
