Russian Ombudsman Moskalkova asks UN, CoE, GANHRI to monitor impartial probe into Babchenko's killing
MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova has forwarded an address to Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Lyudmyla Denisova, the United Nations, and the Council of Europe asking them to keep an investigation into the killing of Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko in Kyiv under control.
"I today forwarded addresses to Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Lyudmyla Denisova, the UN high commissioner, [Secretary General Thorbjorn] Jagland of the Council of Europe, and my colleagues at GANHRI, the Global Alliance for National Human Rights Institutions, asking them to intervene in this situation and establish control over a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation into this unprecedented crime, the killing of a Russian journalist," Moskalkova told journalists.
"Surely, I will keep control of this and will do whatever I can for revenge to be exacted and for justice to prevail," she said.
