Sargsyan's ex-spokesman appointed Yerevan's deputy security chief

YEREVAN. May 31 (Interfax) - The former press secretary for Armenia's ex-president Serzh Sargsyan has been appointed as deputy head of the Yerevan office of the National Security Service.

"[Vladimir] Akopyan is appointed deputy head of the National Security Service directorate for Yerevan," a security source told Interfax on Thursday.

Akopyan, 36, was appointed presidential spokesperson in July 2015. Between December 2006 and July 2015 he served in the National Security Service, including as head of the main directorate just before the appointment as presidential spokesperson. His military rank is major.
