Organizer of Dagestan's Nudzhular terrorist cell gets 8-year prison sentence

MAKHACHKALA. May 31 (Interfax) - A court in the Dagestani town of Izberbash has convicted the organizer of a local cell of the Nurdzhular terror group banned in Russia, an informed source told Interfax on Thursday.

"The convicted [Ilgar] Aliyev set up a Dagestan cell of the Nurdzhular terrorist organization banned in Russia. He actively recruited young men for this organization. The court sentenced him to eight years at a medium-security facility," the source said.

Aliyev's case was probed under the article on organizing extremist activities, he said.
