DPR welcomes UN Security Council's statement on Donbas security situation
DONETSK. June 7 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) authorities are lauding the UN Security Council's statement denouncing the aggravation of the security situation in Donbas and are ready to abide by it, DPR People's Council chairman Denis Pushilin said.
"The degree of attention to the deteriorating situation in Donbas, precisely the UN Security Council's statement backing the conflict settlement indicates that the situation on the contact line became extremely tense. In fact, it is necessary to raise the alarm, the interference of all of the parties, which can have an impact on Ukraine in order to bring it back on the track of implementing the Minsk Agreements, is needed. In turn, we are welcoming the Security Council's statement and are willing to adhere to it," the Donetsk news agency quoted Pushilin as saying.
The DPR expects that the document adopted by the UN Security Council will influence the Ukrainian leadership's steps, specifically regarding the withdrawal of the Ukrainian army's heavy weaponry from the contact line, he said. "We hope that everyone who can have a constructive influence on Ukraine will promote that," Pushilin said.
