It's impossible to resolve Iranian issue by Trump's methods - Bundestag's vice president

MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - Berlin believes that it is impossible to resolve the Iranian issue by unilateral steps, as the United States does, Bundestag Vice President Thomas Oppermann said.

"It is impossible to achieve decisions on Iran by taking such unilateral steps as Mr. Donald Trump does," he said at a meeting with State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

Speaking of the situation in Syria, he noted that Russia should play a key part in the post-conflict restoration of the country.

"There are refugees, who want to return to Syria, in Germany, and they will have such an opportunity only if we provide funds, if it is possible to restore the country, but it requires political stability," the politician said.

"It is important for us that Russia would provide support in it," Oppermann said.

"It is also important to reduce Israel's concerns due to the deployment of pro-Iranian forces to Syria near the Israeli borders," he said, adding that Berlin is pleased with frequent contacts and special relations between the Russian president and the Israeli prime minister.
