MMA fighter Monson says looking forward to getting Russian passport on June 12
MOSCOW. June 11 (Interfax) - Mixed martial arts fighter Jeff Monson told Interfax on Monday he looks forward to receiving a Russian passport.
Monson said that it is his long-time dream and he is very excited.
Monson is expected to receive his Russian passport from Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyev at the Patriot Park in Krasnogorsk, outside of Moscow, on June 12.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on May 29 grating Russian citizenship to Monson.
Monson, who was born in the United States, said recently that he had launched a procedure to renounce his American citizenship, and also announced plans to become a member of Krasnogorsk's legislature and then a Russian State Duma deputy.
