Presidential Domestic Policy Directorate to deal with local self-govt issues - decree

MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has reorganized the Presidential Domestic Policy Directorate tasking it with drawing up proposals on expanding the bodies of local self-government.

The directorate will generalize and present the president and the head of his administration "with the proposals on the issues of determining the priority trends of the state policy in developing local self-government, and on the issues of upgrading the common principles of organizing local self-government," the head of state said in a decree published on the Kremlin's website.

The directorate was also tasked to organize and ensure the interaction between the president and the bodies of local self-government and amalgamations of municipal entities.

The first deputy head of the presidential administration is in charge of the overall management of the Domestic Policy Directorate's activity in line with the distribution of duties between Kremlin administration officials, the decree said.
