MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland will visit Russia on June 19-21 and will hold negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland will pay a working visit to the Russian Federation on June 19-21. During the trip, he will hold talks with Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Lavrov on June 20," the ministry's information and press department said in a commentary published on the ministry's website.
"The sides will discuss prospects for further interaction between Russia and the Council of Europe. They are expected to discuss matters such as the crisis of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, interaction between Russia and the European Court of Human Rights, humanitarian aspects of the situation in Ukraine and the Baltic countries, Russia's participation in treaties and legal acts of the Council of Europe and bilateral sectoral projects, including those in legal studies, education and sport. The sports ministers' informal meeting held jointly with the CoE on the day of the 2018 World Cup opening ceremony also deserves a positive assessment," it said.
