Kremlin links delays of Ukrainian human rights commissioner's visits with Ukrainians imprisoned in Russia to procedure issues

MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - The delays in the visits by Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova with Ukrainians imprisoned in Russia are due to procedure issues, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"The lists are being verified. Besides, as far as we know, the human rights commissioners are discussing how they will visit, synchronously, not synchronously, simultaneously," he told reporters on Wednesday.

"These discussions lead to delays," Peskov said.

"There were also problems with travel due to weather conditions, Ukrainian officials could not fly," he said.

"Generally, it is a rather difficult process, but work is being done on it," Peskov said, responding to a journalist's question as to why Denisova has not been able to visit Ukrainian prisoners since June 9.
