Foreign leader walks through Duma session room for first time, talks to Russian deputies

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - South Korean President Moon Jae-in walked through the plenary session room of the State Duma accompanied by Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and talked to deputies after his speech there on Thursday, an Interfax correspondent reported.

The president spent a few minutes talking to the first female cosmonaut, Duma deputy Valentina Tereshkova, and United Russia deputy Sergei Ten.

Then he and Volodin approached Liberal Democratic Party deputies and spoke to their leader, Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

Such communication between Russian parliamentarians and a foreign head of state right in the plenary session room is a first, as far as parliamentary journalists can remember.
