Flaws revealed in counterterrorism security of Far Eastern airfields - Patrushev

PETROPAVLOVKS-KAMCHATSKY. July 3 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has said he is concerned about the insufficient level of counterterrorism security of joint deployment airfields in the Russian Far East.

"There are concerns about flaws in the emergency-and-rescue equipment of airfields and counterterrorism security levels revealed during inspections. This is especially true of joint deployment airfields," Patrushev said at a transport security meeting.

"There have been cases of designating [airfields] as landing sites without any grounds whatsoever for the purpose of evading passenger security requirements for airfields," he said.
