Russian Security Council commission discusses laundering of proceeds from illegal arms trade

MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax) - The Russian Security Council interagency commission on public security met on Thursday to consider countermeasures to illegal arms trade, the Security Council press service said on Thursday.

"Special attention was paid to problems of searching for lost weapons and the detection of financial transactions related to the legalization of proceeds from illegal arms trade," it said.

The participants were informed that the relevant federal bodies have carried out a number of organizational and practical measures.

"A set of extra legal and organizational measures has been proposed to improve the efficiency of activities of federal agencies countering the illegal manufacturing, storage, trade, transportation, and use of weapons," it said.
