Lavrov's visit to Greece being prepared - embassy

MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax) - Russia is determined to develop friendly relations with Greece and is preparing for Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's visit to this country, the Russian embassy to Greece told Interfax on Wednesday.

"Based on the outcomes of the Greek foreign minister's visit to our country on June 13, we are preparing for Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's presence here. Our minister has an invitation. And, consequently, we are laying the groundwork for the Greek prime minister's successful visit to our country. He also received such an invitation back in March of this year," an embassy spokesperson said.

Events marking the 25th anniversary of the signature of a friendship and cooperation treaty between Russia and Greece were held some time ago, he said.

"We are also preparing events to mark the 190th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, which will take place in September," he said.
