Aliyev, Tusk discuss situation in Karabakh
BAKU. July 11 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has informed European Council President Donald Tusk about the current situation in Nagorno-Karabakh at a meeting in Brussels on Wednesday, the Azerbaijani presidential website said on Wednesday.
"Ilham Aliyev informed [Tusk] on the current situation in the conflict zone," it said.
Aliyev and Tusk also acknowledged successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU in the political, economic, energy, and transport fields and underscored Azerbaijan's growing role in Europe's energy security and the importance of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP), it said.
The two also exchanged opinions on the security situation in the region, it said.
Aliyev and Tusk addressed human rights protection in Azerbaijan and aspects of cooperation on the matter.
The two also shared the view that the document on partnership priorities that Azerbaijan and the EU signed earlier on Wednesday opens up "new opportunities for further development of partner ties," it said.
