UK fan missing in Samara discovered at Moscow hotel

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - The police have discovered a missing UK fan at a Moscow hotel, the press service of the Interior Ministry's Moscow branch told Interfax on Thursday.

"The whereabouts of this man were established thanks to measures taken by Moscow police. He is staying at a Moscow hotel," the press service said.

The fan was not the victim of any wrongdoing, it said.

"The British embassy reported that the whereabouts of the foreign citizen have been established," the press service said.

The fan's relatives called the police and said that he was missing, according to the police. "The police were informed that UK national Douglas Moreton had lost contact with his relatives. Search measures were undertaken to find him," it said.

Earlier, social network posts of Moreton's relatives and friends saying that he had gone missing in Samara were cited in the media.

The UK embassy in Moscow said that it was aware of the situation and was in contact with Russian authorities.
