Veon announces appointment of Kjell Morten Johnsen as COO

MOSCOW. July 19 (Interfax) - Kjell Morten Johnsen has been appointed as the telecoms group's Chief Operating Officer, a role he had held on an interim basis since March 2018 having previously worked as Veon's Head of Major Markets.

All Veon's operating companies will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the company said in a statement.

The company also officially announced the departure of Peter Chernyshov, previously Head of Eurasia and Chief Executive Officer of Kyivstar in Ukraine, who has decided to leave the holding.

Alexander Komarov, Chief Executive Officer of Beeline Kazakhstan will take up the role of Kyivstar Chief Executive Officer on an interim basis.

Interfax sources reported Peter Chernyshov's departure from Kyivstar on July 17.

Veon also said that Christopher Schlaeffer, Chief Commercial & Digital Officer and Mark MacGann, Chief Corporate & Public Affairs Officer, have also decided to leave Veon.
