Uzbek delegation visiting U.S
TASHKENT. July 27 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan's delegation led by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov met with Mississippi Senator and U.S. Helsinki Commission Chairman Roger Wicker during a visit to Washington, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry's press service said on Friday.
"The sides discussed a number of issues on the Uzbek-American agenda and reaffirmed the need to continue and further broaden the Uzbek-American inter-parliamentary dialogue and also interaction in human rights protection," it said.
Wicker said that Uzbekistan has made serious progress under the stewardship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it said.
"The senator, who was one of the initiators of inviting our country to the ministerial meeting on advancing religious freedoms in Washington, welcomed Uzbek delegation representatives' participation in the forum and expressed support for the republic's ongoing reforms in the political, socioeconomic and other areas aimed at further promoting democracy in all spheres of life," the press service said.
