Pacific Fleet to get new diesel-electric subs on time - Deputy PM Borisov
MOSCOW. July 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The Pacific Fleet will receive new Project 6363.3 diesel-electric submarines carrying Kalibr missiles on time, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said.
"The dates are not being shifted," Borisov said, responding to a question from journalists about possible delays in the construction of six submarines for the Pacific Fleet.
"Admiralty Shipyards will do everything on time, rhythmically, without questions. They will follow the plan," he said.
It takes about 30 months to build one submarine, he said.
The Pacific Fleet will receive a new diesel-electric submarine, the first in the series carrying Kalibr cruise missiles, in 2019, Commander Adm. Sergei Avakyants said earlier.
He said six such submarines will be supplied.
Kalibr is a family of Russian cruise missiles developed by Novator (a subsidiary of Almaz-Antey). Kalibr missiles have been used by ships and submarines of the Russian squadron in the Mediterranean and the ships of the Caspian Flotilla to strike militants in Syria.
