Ukrainian troops receive 2 upgraded MiG-29MU1 fighters - Poroshenko

KYIV. Aug 1 (Interfax) - A military unit has been reinforced with two upgraded Mikoyan MiG-29MU1 fighter jets, according to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

"The Ukrainian military has received upgraded MiG-29MU1 fighter jets. Two warplanes, which will build up the Ukrainian army's defense capability, have already been delivered to a military unit," the head of state wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

MiG-29, together with the Sukhoi Su27, is the Ukrainian Air Force's main warplane, he wrote. "The fighter jet upgraded to the MiG-29MU1 version has received a more powerful radar and a satellite navigation system built into the onboard radio navigation system," Poroshenko wrote.

The Lviv State Aircraft Repair Plant and other enterprises of Ukroboronprom performed the upgrade, he added.
