Caspian Sea states to sign agreement on prevention of maritime incidents

MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - The Russian government has approved a draft of the agreement on the prevention of incidents in the Caspian Sea.

The resolution was posted on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The draft was presented by the Russian Defense Ministry, coordinated with the Russian Foreign Ministry, and discussed with Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.

According to the draft, the purpose of the agreement is safe navigation of military ships and flights of military aircraft of the signatory states in the Caspian Sea region.

The government ordered the Defense Ministry supported by the Foreign Ministry to hold talks with the interested sides and sign the document upon the achievement of understanding.
